An Introduction To My Series on Mystic Taoism
A comprehensive approach
In 1972 I began creating a translation and meta-analysis of the Tao te Ching, a classic work of wisdom within Chinese culture. Originally written in ancient Mandarin, I translated the work into English. Working with Mandarin speakers from all levels of society and professions.
All the translators had in common was that they knew what each word meant. I used my background as a yoga and meditation teacher to integrate all the different translations to form what you will be reading here.
This meta-analysis was published in 2012 and recently went out of print. I decided that this book presented in serial form would be a valuable addition for people interested in Zen and mystic Taoism.
Thus, I decided to reprint it and regularly post it on Medium.com and Substack.com. This is what you’re going to be reading here. The book includes the history and explanation of Taoism, each of the 81 entries of the Tao te Ching, and a glossary of important words and phrases.
I hope you enjoy the series.
You will have access to the first three chapters at AskLewis.Sustacks.com at no cost and then you will be asked to become a paid subscriber. This will help support my work.
Thanks,
Lewis

It has been over 45 years and I am continually amazed when I look back upon how easily and quickly one step has led to the next. Thank you for being there to assist in laying the foundations for all my future studies.”
