On a personal note: Please excuse grammatical errors, typos, repetition, and any general nonsense, and such in this post. I am getting a bit older now, and I have about 20,000 pages of information that must get published before I leave the mortal coil. I simply write and publish more than my humble editors are able to correct. If you find enough errors you are welcome to contact me about being an editor of my work.

A 5 - Minute Read
Creative Writing A Poem:
Creative writing is no fuss,
Though it may be blocked within us,
It is there,
even if a complex affair.
Let our emotions beware,
For what is hidden to be shared.
There is creative nonfiction,
Applied with good diction,
And fiction writing examples
In this poem are some samples
There are those with needs
To get creative writing degrees
For minds that are blooming,
And emotions at that are fuming.
Just get to it,
That’s how you do it.
And it’s just fine
to get creative writing degrees online
Online writing degrees are there
if you research the best ones with care,
Or you can get creative writing lessons,
lengthy training or short sessions.
In the end what counts
Is your writing, not the amounts.
So just begin,
To struggle is no sin,
And with this, I’ll say “fin!”
I have known I wanted to be a writer since I was ten years old. What I wanted to write and how I wanted to write it was never clear.
It began in Ms. Lipsett’s class, in P.S. 11 in the South-West Bronx. On this particular day, probably around 1961, my class was asked to write a short story about something, anything. At this time of my life, much to my mother’s chagrin, I watched seven or eight hours of television per day. My focus, as was much of the American viewing public, was Westerns. Bat Masterson, Sugarfoot, The Big Valley, Wagon Train, Death Valley Days, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Branded, Bronco, Wyatt Earp, and my favorite to this day, Have Gun, Will Travel (Paladin).
And so, I wrote my story, a one-page Western, with horses, Indians, good guys, and bad guys. I don’t remember the story itself, but the exhilaration I felt writing it was something I could’t shake, and never wanted to shake.
In my life, I have never been a voluminous reader of books. I have, however, loved picking through stacks of magazines, and the New York Times. These were usually gathered from the recycling rooms of wherever I might be living at the time. I enjoyed reading them for hours daily. At times, I had so many of these in my apartment, that I could easily have been mistaken for the type of hoarder who dies and is never missed; Eventually, their body is discovered, eaten by rats, among six-foot-high endless stacks of magazines and newspapers.
Now in the age of the internet, I have hundreds of documents on my computer, where I organize articles on anything and everything that has caught my attention.
It is still a joy writing and reading it all. Which comes first, the write or the read I can’t really say.
Final thoughts
Everyone has something to say. If you think about being a writer, just write. Stop thinking about it, if you aren’t going to do it.
To start, dedicate 10 minutes every day to writing. Even if you have no idea what to write. Just sit there blankly if needed. Write any words. That’s it. The muse will guide you and you will write. I promise you.
Let’s play with this right here and now.
Let me look at the news. One headline is on the BBC today.
“Ukraine war: Russian troops forced out of eastern town Lyman.”
Let me create something from this.
“In the Ukraine war Russian troops were forced out of the eastern town Lyman. Of course this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. In war, as in life, someone is always going where they aren’t supposed to go or are being pushed out of that place.”
You see, it really is that simple. Now go write!
This is called S.W.O.S.: Slower, Wiser, Older and Smarter.….and remember, life is not a dress rehearsal!
